The region is well served to manage sea freight, with two sea ports located in Ayr and Troon.

Both ports are owned and operated by Associated British Ports, the UK’s leading port operator, and combined, the two sites occupy 80 acres, and handle more than 500,000 tonnes each year.

Together with their customers, the ports of Ayr and Troon contribute around £42 million to the UK economy every year, including £28 million locally

The Port of Ayr is the first commercial port encountered by vessels entering the Firth of Clyde. It has easy access to rail networks and via trunk roads to the M77 for Glasgow, M8 for Edinburgh, and M74 for links to Northern England.
